Large Moth no. 1

Large Moth no. 1 wood burning on cedar 12" x 12".


This is a much larger wood burning then I normally endeavor to make. Its cradled with 2" x 2" fir stretchers that I cut myself. Fir is a harder wood then Cedar, it helps keep the larger piece of cedar from warping as it encounter's different temperatures and moisture.


Stag Beetle

Stag Beetle wood burning on cedar 7" x 7".

Stag Beetles english name is derived from the large distinct mandibles which somewhat resemble the antlers of a stag deer. Stag beetles are also apply named, due the fact many stag beetles fight for mating rights, in very much the same manner stag deer engage in combat using their antlers.

Dragonfly

Dragonfly wood burning on cedar 7" x 7". Dragonflies have been associated with dreams in many cultures. In Japan dragonflies are revered as symbols of courage, strength, and happiness. Often appearing in literature, notably Haiku.

Moth no. 1

Moth wood burning on a 6" x 7" piece of cedar. Its ironic because Moths are supposedly repelled by the scent of cedar.
